CHEER SQUAD PLACEMENT
A participant will cheer for the cheer squad, in the school cluster in which they attend. Based upon the particpants current address. If the school cluster in which they attend does not have enough players to make a cheer squad , they will play for a team in the same Jr. High cluster or a team assigned by the Cheer President and Board. If a cheer squad has too large of a roster, the last participants signing up will be placed on another cheer squad that needs more players. A participant going to a private school may cheer for the private school team or select to cheer for their cluster school. All participants who have played two consecutive years for the same cheer squad /coach will be grandfathered onto the same cheer squad (unless they have been placed onto a cheer squad under the assistant coach exception). A participant placed on a roster due to a roster cap may choose to stay on that cheer squad or select to play for their school cluster cheer squad the following year. All rosters and participants on those rosters will be approved by the GMFL Cheer Board. The Cheer Board and President must approve any other changes. There may be one assistant coach’s exemption per team.
THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PARTICPANTS ON A CHEER SQUAD IS 15.
TRYOUTS FOR CHEER SQUADS ARE PROHIBITED*.
*Except for Greenwood and Private School Teams.
Players that do not make those squads will have the opportunity to play for an MISD school cluster squad assigned by the Cheer President and Board.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Each participant must turn in a signed or online application before they can work out with any GMFL cheer squad. This will secure the League’s liability waiver and will also place the child on the team’s roster. Proof or residency or private school enrollment will be required. A first-year player must furnish a copy of their birth certificate for league verification and league insurance purposes. A photocopy is acceptable. The registration fee must be paid prior to the first practice. In certain circumstances, a hardship allowance will be made. The League President will approve these cases.
A current (within one year) physical is required before the player can participate in practice. NO EXCEPTIONS.
No player is eligible for league practices or events until all of these requirements are met.
